Credentialed Medical Assistant
Credentialed Medical Assisting training is provided through State Fair Community College. This program provides theory, laboratory practice, and clinical application training to prepare students for an entry-level position in a variety of medical assisting positions. Students will be cross-trained in administrative and clinical skills, as well as patient privacy, sensitivity and empathy. They will learn skills including patient intake, vital signs, electrocardiograms (EKGs), sterile field, assisting with minor surgery, administering injections, assisting with physical exams, scheduling patients and health insurance requirements. Students have opportunity to test for three credentials – Certified EKG Technician, Certified Phlebotomy Technician, Credentialed Medical Assistant.
CLASS INFORMATION
Classes are online with four hours per week in a skills lab
A 160-hour Capstone (externship) is the last eight weeks of the program with Boone Health
The program consists of 9 months of training

High School Diploma or GED
