In March 2024, Margaret Curry walked into the Lebanon Job Center, determined to start new. After a challenging period of unemployment that began in November 2022, during which she cared for her disabled veteran husband, she was more than ready.

Her journey took a pivotal turn when she enrolled at Clement Truck Driving School, seizing an opportunity made possible by the Good Jobs Challenge Grant (EDA). This grant is specifically designed to foster vocational skills and economic advancement through targeted training programs.

Curry was offered a comprehensive four-week, 160-hour program that not only covers classroom instruction but also provides extensive hands-on driving experience, designed to equip her with the skills needed to thrive in the logistics and transportation industry.

By April 2024, Margaret had successfully obtained her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), setting the stage for her next big move. Just a few months after earning her CDL, Margaret launched WAMC 1 Logistics LLC, a trucking business that she now owns and operates. Today, Margaret drives her own truck, delivering goods across the region.

Margaret’s story is not just about changing careers; it’s about transforming life’s challenges into opportunities. Her journey from caregiver to entrepreneur is a powerful reminder of the impact vocational training can have, providing not just skills but also new paths to independence and financial stability.

Way to go, Margaret!
