The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development recently honored the Rolla Job Center with the 2024 Outstanding Service to Veterans Award for its exemplary service to veterans at the 2024 Annual OWD Summit in October.
The award, which includes a $9,060 prize, recognizes the center’s dedicated efforts in supporting veterans’ career transitions.
Key initiatives include the SkillBridge and Career Skills Programs, which offer up to 180 days of active-duty time for hands-on industry training. The center also excels in case management and hosts job fairs to help veterans overcome employment barriers and connect with potential employers.
Julie Carter, Director of DHEWED, and Jennifer Taylor, Regional Manager/JVSG Coordinator with DHEWD, presented Rolla Job Center Supervisor Scott Sloan and Veterans Benefits Specialist Wayne Houtman with the award.
