The Central Workforce Development Region is proud to welcome Lisa Buchanan, Vice President of Workforce Development at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, as the newest member of the Central Workforce Development Board.
Lisa brings over 18 years of leadership experience in workforce development, business operations, and program management. Throughout her career, she has developed innovative training strategies, led high-impact programs, and established meaningful partnerships across various industries and educational systems.
In her current role at the Columbia Chamber, Lisa is dedicated to driving collaborative efforts that align employer needs with workforce training and development. Her passion for strengthening the talent pipeline and expanding opportunities for both job seekers and businesses continues to shape the region’s workforce strategies.
Previously, Lisa served as the Director of Education and Workforce Solutions at the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership, where she led initiatives that connected job seekers with career pathways and fostered collaboration between education and industry. She also founded Something 2 Live 4, a nonprofit organization supporting justice-involved individuals with housing referrals, career development, medical support, and counseling.

Lisa’s experience spans managing multi-million-dollar grants, leading programs for JVS Human Services and the State of California, as well as various positions at WorkOne and Workforce Boards. Across every role, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to innovation, operations, and lasting impact.
A proud United States Navy veteran and former F-18 jet engine mechanic, Lisa’s strong leadership and heart for service define everything she does.
