The future of Missouri’s workforce was on full display at the Second Annual Southern Boone County R-1 College and Career Fair, where more than 700 students explored their next steps toward college and career success.

Hosted at Southern Boone County High School, the event brought together 17 colleges and 16 employers representing a variety of industries—from education and healthcare to manufacturing and public service. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, gather resources, and connect directly with professionals about career pathways available across the region.

Business Services Specialist Roger Brisley and April Buckner with the Central Workforce Development Region (CWDR) were in attendance, sharing information about local job opportunities, training programs, and the wide range of services offered through Missouri Job Centers.

“Events like this help students see the real possibilities that exist right here in our communities,” said Brisley. “It’s about helping them connect their education to meaningful careers.”

The fair served as a valuable bridge between education and employment, emphasizing the importance of preparing students early for their future. By collaborating with schools, employers, and community partners, the Central Region continues to play a key role in building a skilled, ready workforce for Mid-Missouri.
