After years of dedicated military service, transitioning to civilian employment can feel like navigating unfamiliar territory. For Nathan Frock, that transition became a success story built on determination, the right support, and a willingness to stay engaged every step of the way.
Veteran employment services in Central Missouri exist for moments exactly like his, and Nathan’s story shows what’s possible when veterans connect with the right resources.
A Plan Built Around His Strengths
Nathan first contacted the Columbia Job Center in October 2025, looking for employment guidance and a clear sense of direction for his next career chapter. From the start, Veteran Employment Specialist Zach Neal worked closely with Nathan to assess his skills, explore his career interests, and build an Individualized Employment Plan (IEP) complete with short- and long-term goals tailored to his strengths and military background.
Using tools like O*Net and MERIC to review current labor market information in Nathan’s fields of interest, Zach provided targeted job referrals, resume development with multiple revisions, and job matching assistance. Nathan also received information on upcoming job fairs and a full overview of the services available to him through the Job Center’s JVSG (Jobs for Veterans State Grant) program. Throughout multiple follow-ups, Nathan stayed engaged and committed, a key factor in his success.
Landing a Career That Fits
That commitment paid off. On December 10, 2025, Nathan accepted a full-time position as a Bindery Operator with Modern Litho – Print Co. in Columbia. The role is a strong fit, drawing on the leadership, organizational, and customer service skills he developed during his military career, while offering a clear path for growth and advancement within the company.
Nathan’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when veterans connect with the right resources and stay the course. The Central Workforce Development Region is proud to have been part of his story.
