The Central Workforce Development Board (CWDB) and Chief Local Elected Officials (CLEOs) gathered Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Old Kinderhook Resort in Camdenton for their Annual Joint Meeting. The gathering brought together workforce leaders, county commissioners, and community partners to reflect on regional accomplishments, discuss workforce trends, and recognize individuals whose years of service have helped strengthen workforce development across Central Missouri.
The meeting included a review of the Central Region’s 2026 Annual Report, a presentation on regional labor market trends, and special recognition of three individuals for their dedication and leadership.
Recognizing Decades of Service to Central Missouri
One of the highlights of the meeting was an awards presentation honoring Trish Rogers, Gary Jungermann, and Kathy Groves. Each received a plaque recognizing their contributions to the Central Workforce Development Region.
Trish Rogers Honored for 40 Years of Service
Trish Rogers was recognized for 40 years of dedicated service to the Central Region following her recent retirement.
Throughout her career, Rogers witnessed the impact workforce development programs can have on individuals and families. During the recognition, she reflected on the relationships she built and the lives changed through the region’s workforce services.
“I have worked with so many wonderful people. I think my greatest joy has been watching and observing our clients and we truly changed lives,” Rogers shared.
Her remarks served as a reminder that behind every workforce program and performance measure are individuals working toward better opportunities for themselves and their families.
Gary Jungermann Recognized for Regional Leadership
Gary Jungermann was honored for his dedicated service as Chair of the Chief Local Elected Officials Caucus and his leadership during challenging periods for the Central Region.
Working alongside former Board Chair and current Vice Chair T.R. Dudley, Jungermann helped guide the region through difficult times while supporting the continued delivery of workforce services.
Jungermann has also served as Callaway County Presiding Commissioner for 16 years, bringing years of local government experience and a commitment to regional collaboration to his workforce leadership role.
Kathy Groves Recognized for Board Service
Kathy Groves was also honored for her dedicated service on the Central Workforce Development Board.

Examining Central Missouri’s Workforce Outlook
The meeting also featured a presentation from Veronica Gielazauskas, Assistant Commissioner for Performance and Strategy and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC) within the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development.
Gielazauskas shared an overview of the Central Region’s labor market, including employment trends, industry demand, commuting patterns, educational attainment, and occupational projections.
According to MERIC’s 2024–2034 projections, employment in the Central Region is expected to grow by 4.85%, exceeding Missouri’s projected statewide growth rate of 3.2%.
The presentation also identified health care and social assistance as a leading industry in the region, underscoring the importance of preparing workers for careers that meet evolving employer needs.
These findings provide valuable information for workforce leaders, educators, and community partners as they plan for the region’s future.
Reflecting on Regional Accomplishments
The meeting included an overview of the Central Workforce Development Region’s 2026 Annual Report, presented by Communications Coordinator Sundi Jo Graham.
The report highlights workforce development activities, program performance, regional investments, and success stories from across the 19-county service area.
The presentation provided an opportunity to reflect on the work taking place throughout the region and the impact of workforce programs on Missourians pursuing education, training, and employment opportunities.
From helping job seekers develop new skills to supporting employers with workforce needs, the Annual Report illustrates the importance of partnerships and continued investment in Central Missouri’s workforce.
Continuing the Work of Strengthening Communities
The Annual Joint Meeting provided an opportunity for workforce leaders and local elected officials to connect, share information, and recognize the contributions of those who have dedicated their careers and service to the region.
The recognition of Rogers, Jungermann, and Groves also highlighted an important part of workforce development: the people who work behind the scenes to create opportunities and support the communities they serve.
As the Central Workforce Development Region looks ahead, its mission remains focused on strengthening communities through workforce development efforts.
