Funding from the MO Works Together Grant was the opportunity Abby Helton of Lebanon, Mo., desperately needed. She successfully completed training to become a Certified Pet Groomer, allowing her to obtain her “dream job”.

“It’s still pretty difficult for me to talk about all the dark times what I went through,” said Abby. “This opportunity was a blessing and I’m very grateful and blessed and shocked how fast I was able to turn my life around.”

The MO Works Together grant provided the opportunity to complete short-term training to obtain her certification, and in less than 30 days from training completion, Abby was employed full-time. She’s now working at a private grooming shop and her exceptional skills and natural talent working with dogs of all sizes is evident as the size of her customer base increases daily.

This opportunity was a blessing and I’m very grateful and blessed and shocked how fast I was able to turn my life around.

Abby’s long-term employment goal includes owning and operating her own grooming shop, and possibly helping other young adults in their efforts to “turn their life around” like she has been able to do.

Congratulations Abby! The Central Workforce Development Region is rooting for you!
