On April 3, 2026, the Central Workforce Development Region joined the Business in Motion Expo 2026, hosted by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce at the Wyndham Executive Center in Columbia, Missouri. The expo brought together businesses, employers, job seekers, and community organizations from across mid-Missouri.

The Central Workforce Development Region — comprised of the Office of Workforce Development (OWD), the Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) program, and the Central Ozarks Private Industry Council (COPIC) — was well represented at the expo, with staff working side by side to connect attendees with the free services available through the Columbia Job Center.

More Than a Career Fair

The Business in Motion Expo, formerly known as Showcase CoMo, is the Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s annual business expo and hiring event.

Businesses and employers showcase products, services, job opportunities, continued education, and internship programs, giving attendees the opportunity to learn, apply for positions, interview onsite, and build networking connections.

Admission is free and open to the public — making it an ideal setting for the Columbia Job Center to reach job seekers who may not yet know the services available to them.

“Events like Business in Motion are exactly the kind of opportunity we look for,” said Sundi Jo Graham, Communications Coordinator with the Central Workforce Development Region. “When we can meet people in a setting like this — whether they are a job seeker ready to make a change or an employer looking to grow their team — we get to show them firsthand that real help is available, and it is completely free.”

What the Columbia Job Center Offers

Whether someone is actively searching for work, looking to change careers, or an employer seeking qualified candidates, the Columbia Job Center offers a wide range of no-cost services. Career expos like Business in Motion provide a valuable opportunity to meet people where they are and connect them directly with the support they need.

The Columbia Job Center serves job seekers and employers throughout the Central Workforce Development Region, which covers 19 counties across mid-Missouri. Services include resume assistance, job matching, interview preparation, skills training referrals, On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs, tax credit information for employers, and much more.
