Growing up raised by a single father with health issues, Jayden discovered she had a passion to be a nurse. “I wanted to help people,” she said. “Especially after seeing how incredible my father’s nurses and doctors were.”
Due to her father’s health issues, Douglas lived on a very tight budget, though she never went without. This, however, became a barrier for her to be able to pay for college with accumulating debt.
“I applied for FAFSA which helped a lot,” said Jayden. “But when I heard about this program (tuition assistance and training), my life changed. Jaci helped me so much with all the funding that I received. I never had to pay a dime out of pocket to afford my nursing program!”

At the time of enrollment, Douglas was working as a part-time retail associate. After completing the State Fair Community College Practical Nursing Program, she earned her Practical Nursing License and is now employed full-time, earning $24.37/hr.
Jayden said of the program enthusiastically, “This program truly helped me become an LPN and get a wonderful job! Before nursing school, I worked at a retail store and now I am 21 and working at a wonderful clinic doing what I love. I am so thankful!”
