On March 22, a group of high school students from Mexico High School had the opportunity to tour the Capital City Job Center in Jefferson City. The tour was hosted by Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), a non-profit organization that works to help high school students stay in school and succeed in their future careers.

During the tour, the students learned about the job center’s services, which include career counseling, job search assistance, and training programs for various trades. They also had the chance to try out virtual reality (VR) goggles to learn more about different trades, such as welding and construction.

The VR goggles allowed the students to experience what it’s like to work in various trades, such as welding, construction, and more. This hands-on experience helped to engage the students and make the learning process more interactive and enjoyable.

The VR simulations allow students to practice skills and gain hands-on experience in various trades without the risks and costs associated with traditional training methods. For example, students can practice welding without the danger of burns, cuts, or exposure to harmful fumes. They can also practice operating heavy machinery without the risk of accidents or damage to expensive equipment.

Students also had an opportunity to participate in the VR Goggle experience at the 2nd Annual Mexico High School Job Fair in the MHS Sports Complex. Missouri Job Center representatives were on hand to provide more information about Job Center services.
