Helping Missourians build strong careers is at the core of the Central Region’s mission. Army veteran Eric Fasciotti came to the Columbia Job Center looking for support as he worked toward a career in social work, and his journey shows how steady guidance can make a significant difference for job seekers across the region.
Through the Veteran Eligibility Screening Tool, Fasciotti received individualized services tailored to his goals, including enrollment in Workforce Pathways and JVSG programs, résumé updates, labor market information, and an employment plan outlining both immediate needs and long-term aspirations.
With a bachelor’s degree in Communication and ongoing work toward a Master of Social Work, Eric knew he wanted a career that allowed him to provide supportive services to individuals and families.
He stayed active in the job market, attending job fairs and applying quickly to opportunities shared with him through MoJobs. When a case management position with the VA opened, he applied right away. Although a federal hiring freeze put the role on hold, he continued reviewing referrals and exploring every available option.

When he needed help finding a practicum site for his MSW program, staff reached out to regional partners. After several inquiries, Eric secured a placement at a retirement center, gaining hands-on experience while continuing to receive job leads and information about hiring events.
Midway through this progress, Eric faced a setback. He returned to the Job Center after losing his job due to absences tied to VA medical appointments. Despite the challenge, Eric kept moving forward. He continued applying for positions and ultimately accepted a referral for a Direct Support Professional role with Beacon Supportive Living.
Eric’s story reflects the purpose of the Central Region Job Centers: to provide clear guidance, practical tools, and steady support that help job seekers overcome barriers and stay on track. Whether someone needs training assistance, job search help, veteran services, or workplace rights information, our team works alongside them every step of the way.
If you’re a veteran, job seeker, employer, or community partner, we invite you to connect with your local Job Center to see how we can support your next step. Together, we can continue strengthening Missouri’s workforce and communities.
