Kayden Blankenbeker, a graduate of Camdenton High School in May 2023, harbored dual occupational interests in law enforcement and healthcare. Initially assigned to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office as a participant in the WIOA Work Experience program, Kayden soon realized that this wasn’t the career path she wished to pursue.

Thanks to the flexibility of the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Work Experience program, Kayden was seamlessly reassigned to Lake Parke Senior Living in Camdenton, taking on a role as a dedicated support staff member.

In her new position, Kayden actively contributes to patient care by assisting with meal preparation and service, as well as engaging in tasks related to sanitation and laundry. Notably, Lake Parke Senior Living is in the midst of expansion, and Kayden is currently undergoing training to continue her journey as a Nursing Assistant.

Praised by her supervisor for her strong work ethic and adeptness at following instructions, Kayden has proven to be exceptional in her interactions with residents. In her own words, she expresses a genuine fondness for her role at Lake Parke Senior Living, affirming, “I really like it here, and I don’t plan on going anywhere.”

Kayden’s story exemplifies the positive impact of programs like WIOA in providing individuals with the opportunity to explore and transition into fulfilling career paths.

Way to go, Kayden!
