A partnership between the Central Workforce Development Board, the Flourish Initiative, and MU Health is providing valuable work experience opportunities to local youth. Three Columbia teenagers recently began their first day of paid work experience at MU Health, with funding provided by the Central Region.
The program offers 32 hours of hands-on work assignments in various healthcare roles, including Patient Service Representative, Sterile Processing Trainee, and Surgical Preoperative Services. Participants also receive weekly classroom training through the Flourish Initiative, focusing on essential life skills, financial management, and job retention.
The Flourish Initiative, a youth resource organization funded by the Veterans United Foundation, aims to improve education and training opportunities for youth facing economic and educational barriers. It offers a safe and supportive environment that fosters personal growth and well-being to help individuals thrive.
This innovative partnership demonstrates a commitment to empowering young people with the skills and experience needed to succeed in the workforce.
