The Central Workforce Development Region recently assisted in the Royal Canin hiring event to help employees affected by the upcoming closure of their factory in Rolla. The event featured 16 different employers who were onsite to do one-on-one interviews.

Roger Brisley, the Business Support Specialist and Rapid Response Coordinator for the Central Region, along with April Buckner, Business Service Specialist for the Central Ozarks Private Industry Council (COPIC), assisted in the workforce transition efforts.

Approximately 65 employees participated in the event, offering the chance to explore new career paths, engage with potential employers, and access resources.

Production is expected to cease on April 18, 2025, with the facility permanently closing on December 31, 2025. Employees who remain at the plant will likely be laid off on December 31 unless they secure alternate employment within the company prior.
