The CWDB Holds Its Annual In-Person Meeting in Camdenton

The Central Workforce Development Board (CWDB) held its annual in-person meeting on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the scenic Old Kinderhook Golf Resort, nestled along Lake of the Ozarks, MO. This event provided an incredible opportunity for workforce professionals and community partners to come together, share insights, and discuss initiatives to strengthen Central Missouri’s workforce.

We were privileged to welcome representatives from three significant partners:

1. Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce: The chamber shared valuable insights into economic trends affecting our region and presented strategies for enhancing community engagement to create more job opportunities.
2. Lake Career and Technical Center: The center highlighted the importance of vocational training, offering solutions for bridging skills gaps and preparing students for in-demand careers.
3. State Fair Community College: Our colleagues from State Fair discussed their ongoing efforts to expand access to higher education and workforce training, particularly in rural areas, ensuring more individuals have pathways to well-paying careers.

Our board members engaged in meaningful discussions on the recent workforce challenges impacting our region, including:

• Strategies for addressing the skills gap and connecting job seekers with high-demand careers.
• Innovative approaches to recruitment and retention in industries facing talent shortages.
• Ways to support businesses adapting to economic changes and workforce needs.
• Solutions for increasing access to job training and workforce education.

The CWDB remains committed to fostering collaboration among local businesses, educational institutions, and workforce partners. Together, we’re working towards a brighter future for Central Missouri, where opportunities are abundant and every individual has the resources to succeed in their chosen field.
