Jennifer Kauffman completed the State Fair Community College nursing program and obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing in December 2022, then received her Registered Nursing license in January 2023, thanks to WIOA funding.
Kauffman is now an RN at the Missouri Department of Corrections, earning $38/hr. When she came to the Lake Area Job Center Affiliate location, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse making $20.48/hr. Thanks to her hard work and attainment of her degree and license, she has increased her hourly wage by $17.52, allowing her to support herself and her family.
“The tuition assistance allowed me to graduate with significantly less student debt, and the gas reimbursement helped relieve the financial pressure of not being able to work many hours while in college,” said Kauffman. “With the reduced financial stress, I was able to focus more on my studies.”
