Dylan Green’s journey from high school graduate to master welder shows the power of determination, training, and the right support system—thanks to the Rolla Job Center and the QUEST grant program.

In late April, Dylan met with Career Consultant Jenna Snodgrass at the Rolla Job Center to discuss his future. With only one part-time summer job under his belt and a passion for welding, he sought assistance with training after his upcoming high school graduation. Dylan qualified for the QUEST grant, which offered the perfect solution for his next steps.

Graduating from high school in May 2024, Dylan wasted no time pursuing his dream. In June, he enrolled at Iron Eagle Welding Academy in Stockton, MO, to complete a 14-week, 560-hour Master Pipe Welding and Fitting program. Thanks to the QUEST grant, all of his tuition, fees, and supplies were fully covered, allowing him to focus entirely on his training.

By September 6, 2024, Dylan successfully completed his welding program, and just nine days later, he landed a job with Boilermakers Local 83, earning $42/hr. Initially working in Texas, Dylan is now looking forward to new opportunities that may take him to Montana in the coming months.

Both Dylan and his mother express immense gratitude for the support that set him on the path to a successful and rewarding career in welding.

This is more than just a job for Dylan—it’s the beginning of a bright future.

Way to go, Dylan!
