When Alexis Christian walked into the Miller County Central Region Job Center in May 2025, she had just been displaced from her job. Only two days later, she was on her way to a new opportunity through the WIOA Out-of-School Youth (OSY) Work Experience program.

Alexis was placed at Elite Little’s Christian Academy in Eldon, Missouri, where she began a 320-hour work experience as a Preschool Teacher. She embraced the role, quickly becoming an important part of the team. Her dedication and hard work paid off—upon completing the program, the daycare hired her on immediately.

For Alexis, the support she received through the Job Center and WIOA made all the difference:

“Working with WIOA is straightforward. They inquire about your need for additional resources, regardless of whether they directly relate to your current job. WIOA assisted me in securing employment, and my work experience was positive, as I had the opportunity to meet many new people and learn more.”

With the help of WIOA, Alexis didn’t just find another job—she found a career where she can grow and make a difference.

Way to go, Alexis!
