In January 2024, Reagan Blain came to the Lake Area Satellite Job Center looking for a way forward. At the time, she was working two part-time jobs as a certified nursing assistant and a waitress, but her income was not enough to cover everyday expenses. She knew she wanted more stability and a career that would allow her to make a meaningful impact in healthcare.

With support from the Central Region Job Centers, Reagan began turning that goal into a plan. Through the WIOA Adult program, along with additional support made possible by Healthy Blue and the EDA Good Jobs Challenge grant, she pursued her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. This combined support helped reduce financial stress and allowed Reagan to focus on her education and long-term career path.

Reagan enrolled in an Associate Degree in Nursing program in 2024. With the right resources in place, she stayed on track and graduated in December 2025 with her degree and Registered Nurse license. Completing the program marked a major milestone and opened the door to new career opportunities.

Today, Reagan is working as a licensed Registered Nurse with SSM Health. She is earning twice what she made as a CNA and now has access to benefits and a stable schedule. Moving from multiple part-time jobs into a professional nursing role has given her the financial security and confidence to plan for the future.

Reagan’s success is a reminder that access to education and support can change the course of a career.

Way to go, Reagan!
