Savannah Jeffries always knew she wanted to build a career in nursing, but like many working adults, she faced the challenge of balancing full-time work with the demands of school. When she first came to the Miller County Central Region Job Center, she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with Arrowhead Senior Living in Osage Beach.
Thanks to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult program and support through the EDA Occupational Skills Training initiative, Savannah was able to take the next step toward her dream. With tuition assistance and guidance from her career advisor, she enrolled in the Columbia College, Lake of the Ozarks nursing program.
After successfully graduating, Savannah is now working full-time with Arrowhead Senior Living as a Registered Nurse (RN). Not only has she advanced her career, but she has also nearly doubled her hourly rate.

Savannah shared:
“Without the help of WIOA and the continuing support of my advisor, I would never have been able to make my dream of becoming an RN a reality. WIOA took the financial burden of trying to figure out how I was going to work a full-time job and go to school full-time, completely off my shoulders. I will forever be grateful that I was able to chase this dream and make it come true.”
This success story showcases the power of workforce development programs in the Central Region, enabling individuals to acquire the education and skills necessary for achieving long-term career success.
Way to go, Savannah!
