Ashley Sherrell obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Conservation in 2007 and was not able to secure a role utilizing this degree. After years of unsuccessful efforts to obtain employment in her degree field, she then entered the medical field, where she soon found her true passion.
When she came to the Job Center for assistance, Sherrell was most recently working as a Medical Assistant, earning $14.00/hr.
Thanks to WIOA funding, Ashley earned her associate’s Degree in Nursing from Southwest Baptist University in December of 2022, securing her Registered Nursing (RN) license soon after. She now works for Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, as an RN, earning $28.20/hr, more than doubling her previous wage!
“I don’t know how I would have made it through nursing school without the help, said Sherrell. “I really am grateful for everything!”
