About Our Program

The Central Workforce Development Board offers an on-the-job training program aimed at equipping WIOA eligible workers with the essential skills required for employment with Emery Sapp & Sons, one of the Midwest’s largest 100% employee-owned infrastructure contractors. Our program ensures participants receive hands-on experience, competitive wages during training, and the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure projects.

Program Features

Competitive Wages

Participants are paid a competitive wage of $22/hr during the training period, moving up to $27/hr after completion, ensuring financial stability while you learn.

Prime Location

Training takes place in Columbia, MO, with opportunities to work out-of-town and out-of-state, providing diverse work experiences.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and pass pre-employment screening, including drug testing and a medical exam.

Eligibility Criteria

Who Qualifies for Our Training Program?

Our on-the-job training program is designed to assist WIOA eligible workers in developing the skills needed for employment with Emery Sapp & Sons, one of the Midwest’s largest 100% employee-owned infrastructure contractors. To qualify, you must meet one of the following eligibility categories:

  • Dislocated Worker: Laid-off or terminated from employment due to workforce reduction, receiving or has received Unemployment Insurance payments and is unlikely to return to the same type of employment, laid-off due to business closure, or unemployed for 12-weeks out of the past 26-weeks.
  • Low-Income or Receiving Food Stamps: Individuals who meet the low-income criteria or are currently receiving food stamps.

Additional requirements include being at least 18 years old, having a valid driver’s license, and being willing and able to work out-of-town and out-of-state, requiring overnight stays. Pre-employment screening includes drug testing and a medical exam, which are paid for by the training program.
